W. D. Weerasingha (born 15 April 1979)[1] is aSri Lankan politician, former provincial councillor andMember of Parliament.[1]

He contested the2012 provincial council election as one of theUnited People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA)electoral alliance's candidates inAmpara District and was elected to theEastern Provincial Council (EPC).[2] He resigned from theSri Lanka Freedom Party in September 2017 to support formerPresidentMahinda Rajapaksa.[3]

In January 2020 Weerasingha andWimalaweera Dissanayake were accused of leading a mob that attackedMahajana Eksath Peramuna member Rushan Milinda.[4] Weerasingha contested the2020 parliamentary election as aSri Lanka People's Freedom Alliance (SLPFA) electoral alliance candidate inAmpara District and was elected to theParliament of Sri Lanka.[5][6][7]
