Dänholm (literallyDanes' Isle) is a small island on theGerman coast of theBaltic Sea.[1] It is situated in theStrelasund just east ofStralsund. Both bridges linkingRügen with the mainland,Rügendamm andRügenbrücke, run across it. The island was the scene of an incident between theSwedish andFrench armies in 1807, when it belonged toSwedish Pomerania during theNapoleonic Wars.
