TheCumberland Valley is a northern constituent valley of theGreat Appalachian Valley, within theAtlantic Seaboard watershed inPennsylvania andMaryland. TheAppalachian Trail crosses through the valley.

The valley is bound to the west and north by theRidge-and-Valley Appalachians (Bear Pond Mountains/Blue Mountain), to the east and south bySouth Mountain, to the northeast by theSusquehanna River atHarrisburg, and to the south by thePotomac River. The portion of the valley residing in Maryland is sometimes referred to as theHagerstown Valley.
TheCumberland Valley Railroad, theCumberland Valley AVA wine region, and theCumberland Valley School District are named for the region.[1]
