Cuinchy (French pronunciation:[kɥɛ̃ʃi] or[kwɛ̃ʃi]) is acommune in thePas-de-Calaisdepartment in the Hauts-de-Franceregion of France[3] about 5 miles (8.0 km) east ofBéthune and 20 miles (32 km) southwest ofLille, by the banks of the Canal-d’Aire.
The village was the source of thede Quincy family, who played a major part in the history of medieval England and Scotland.[4]
