Cuba andSerbia maintain diplomatic relations established in 1902.[1] From 1918 to 2006, Cubamaintained relations with theKingdom of Yugoslavia, theSocialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (SFRY), and the Federal Republic of Yugoslavia (FRY) (laterSerbia and Montenegro), of which Serbia is consideredshared (SFRY) or sole (FRY) legalsuccessor.[2]
In theNational Assembly of Serbia there is an active parliamentary group of friendship with Cuba.[3] Serbia supports Cuba at theUnited Nations in condemning theUnited States embargo.[4]
Cuba has supported Serbia in itsstance towardsKosovo, consideringKosovo independence an "illegitimate act" and a "violation of norms ofinternational law and principles of theUnited Nations Charter".[5]
