Inheraldry, anordinary is described asquadrate (or more fully,nowy quadrate), when it has a square central boss.[1]

Only certain ordinaries are usually shown quadrate: thecross, thepale, and thefess – but not, for example, abordure orchevron.

Asaltire quadrate has the square lozengeways:
