Covert Way is the onlyLocal Nature Reserve in theLondon Borough of Enfield.[1][2] It is also part of the Hadley Wood Golf Course and Covert Way FieldSite of Borough Importance for Nature Conservation, Grade I,[3] and it has an area of 7 hectares (17 acres).[4] It is on the southern border of Enfield between the road named Covert Way andMonken Hadley Common inBarnet.
Part of the site is semi-deciduous woodland which has woodpeckers andmuntjac deer, and butterflies includingwhite-letter andpurple hairstreaks.[1] In grassland areas there are the rareadder's-tongue fern and the locally scarcefour-spot orb weaver spider.[3]
