The 1968 Corpus Christi Civitan Open was the site of futureWorld Golf Hall of FameJudy Rankin's first LPGA Tour win. She defeatedSandra Spuzich in a playoff.[3]
At the 1972 Corpus Christi Civitan Open, it took ten holes ofsudden death forJo Ann Prentice to defeatKathy Whitworth andSandra Palmer. To this date it remains the longest sudden death playoff in LPGA history.[4]
