TheCooperage Football Ground is afootball stadium located inNariman Point,Mumbai,Maharashtra.[4][5][6][7] It is predominantly home to multipleMumbai Football League clubs.[8][9]

TheWestern India Football Association has operated from the Cooperage Ground since 1969,[1] and theMumbai District Football Association holds a small office. It was a venue for one of India's premier national leagues, theI-League.[10][11]Mahindra United FC,Kenkre FC, andMumbai FC used the stadium as home ground in both theNFL and the I-League, whileAmbernath United Atlanta FC hosted itsI-League 2nd Division games.[12][13][14][15]

History

Cooperage Ground before renovation

Cooperage Ground was the primary venue forRovers Cup, the third oldest football tournament in India afterDurand andTrades Cup.[16] The stadium was occupied by the British Indian Army during theWorld War I.[17] In April 2011, plans were announced for the Cooperage Football Ground to be renovated whenFIFA announced that they would give theWestern India Football Association US$2 million in order to renovate that stadium.[18] On 12 June 2011, it was announced in theBombay High Court that the West India Football Association would be given the right to renovate the Cooperage Ground.[19]
