Congregation Beth Israel (Hebrew:בית ישראל) is aReformJewishsynagogue located at 751 San Juan Boulevard inBellingham,Washington, in the United States. It is one of the oldest synagogues in Western Washington.[2]
Established in 1908, the congregation consisted mostly ofJewish immigrants from Lithuania. It moved into its first building at 2200 Broadway in 1925.[2] OriginallyOrthodox, it became more liberal followingWorld War II, and in 1987 joined theUnion of American Hebrew Congregations.[2] The congregation moved into a new building at 751 San Juan Boulevard in 2018.[1][2] At that time membership was 275 families.[1]
As of 2023[update], therabbi was Joshua Samuels.[2]
