Come Together is a studio album byIke & Tina Turner and their backing vocaliststhe Ikettes, released onLiberty Records in April 1970.[1]
The album combines rock and soul elements. Following Ike & Tina Turner's tour withthe Rolling Stones in November 1969, the duo began incorporating rock songs into their repertoire. Due to the receptive public response to their live performances, a studio version ofthe Beatles' "Come Together" was released onMinit Records in December 1969.[2] It peaked at No. 57 on theBillboard Hot 100 and No. 21 on theBillboard Soul Singles chart.[3] Due to the success of the single, they were promoted to Minit's parent label, the more mainstreamLiberty Records.[4][5] Their second single, "I Want to Take You Higher" bySly and the Family Stone was released in May 1970. It peaked at No. 34 on theBillboard Hot 100 and No. 25 on theBillboard Soul Singles chart.[6][7]
The track "Evil Man" was originally recorded as "Evil Woman" by the bandCrow,[8] more famously remembered for the versionBlack Sabbath released in January 1970. Ike & Tina Turner's recording is gender-swapped, describing a man rather than a woman.
The album peaked at No. 13 on theBillboard Soul LP's chart and at No. 130 on the Top LP's chart.[9][10]

The powerhouse duo have a particularly solid entry with this rocking package which includes their recent chart single, "Honky Tonk Women." Things really get moving on the Beatles song "Come Together" and the Sly favorite "I Want To Take You Higher." The soulful and sexy voice of Tina is heard to full advantage. A couple of top notch entertainers, Ike and Tina just keep on driving. Watch for this LP on the charts.[16]
The Philadelphia Inquirer (May 3, 1970): "Very rarely does a record generate the kind of excitement you find on the new LP, which as usual, emphasizes the smoldering vocals of Tina Turner, with Ike and the other review members taking their customary roles as slick backdrops for the singer."[17]
Come Together was digitally remastered and released byBGO records on the compilation CDCome Together/Nuff Said in 2010.[18]
