Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor (Welsh for 'Meirion-Dwyfor College'; abbreviatedCMD) is a college inGwynedd, Wales with its main campus inDolgellau. It serves the areas ofMeirionydd andDwyfor. It has abilinguallanguage policy and offers the opportunity to study most subjects through the medium ofWelsh. Since 1 April 2012, it has been a constituent college ofGrŵp Llandrillo Menai.
Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor has three main campuses atDolgellau inMeirionnydd,Pwllheli inDwyfor andGlynllifon (for agricultural courses) nearCaernarfon. TheDolgellau campus was previously occupied byDr Williams School.
Notable former pupils include the singerDuffy, who was elected president of the Students' union.[1]
Coleg Meirion-Dwyfor formally merged withColeg Llandrillo on 1 April 2010; this new college merged withColeg Menai in 2012 to formGrŵp Llandrillo Menai. The merged organisation is one of the largest further education colleges in the UK, located at twelve campuses across four counties. Although the colleges have merged their management and have a central administration, theColeg Meirion-Dwyfor campuses retain theColeg Meirion-Dwyfor name.
