Clovesuurdameredeor (meaning "sea creature ofClosworth"; from theMedieval LatinClovesuurda and theOld Englishmeredeor) is an extinctgenus ofmachimosauridteleosauroid from theBathonianCornbrash Formation ofEngland.[1]
The type species,C. stephani, was originally named "Steneosaurus"stephani byHulke in 1867.[2] Vignaud (1995) consideredS. stephani to be a minor synonym ofYvridiosuchus boutilieri (then still in the genusSteneosaurus),[3] but Johnson (2019) and Johnson et al. (2020) discovered thatS. stephani was a basal machimosaur that was separate fromYvridiosuchus, erecting the genusClovesuurdameredeor for this.[4][1]
