Claudia Tausend (born 22 July 1964) is a German politician of theSocial Democratic Party (SPD) who has been serving as a member of theBundestag from the state ofBavaria since 2013.
Tausend was born inVilsbiburg,Bavaria,
Tausend first became a member of theBundestag in the2013 German federal election, representing theMunich East district.[1] In parliament, she is a member of the Committee on Construction, Housing, Urban Development and Communities and the Committee on European Union Affairs.[2][3]
In the negotiations to form a so-calledtraffic light coalition of the SPD, theGreen Party and theFDP underChancellorOlaf Scholz following the2021 federal elections, Tausend was part of her party's delegation in the working group on building and housing, chaired byKevin Kühnert,Christian Kühn andDaniel Föst.[4]
Within the SPD parliamentary group, Tausend belongs to theParliamentary Left, a left-wing movement.[5]In 2024 she announced that she isn't seeking re-election for Bundestag.[6][7]
