Claude-Élisée de Court de La Bruyère (February 15, 1666,Pont-de-Vaux,Province of Burgundy, France – August 19, 1752,Gournay-sur-Marne), was a French officer in theFrench Navy during the reigns ofLouis XIV andLouis XV, who ended his career as Vice Admiral of theFlotte du Ponant.
He was the son of Charles de Court and Anne de Saumaise. He became agarde-marine in 1684, and fought in all major naval battles between 1689 and 1744.
AsLieutenant de Vaisseau of theParfait (64), he fought in theBattle of Beachy Head (1690). He was also present in theBattle of Lagos (1693) on board theAgréable.
His greatest victory was theBattle of Toulon (1744), when he was already 78 years old.
