Clarence Verdin (born June 14, 1963) is an American former professionalfootball player who was awide receiver andkick returner in theNational Football League (NFL) for theWashington Redskins,Indianapolis Colts andAtlanta Falcons. He also was a member of theHouston Gamblers in theUnited States Football League (USFL) and theBC Lions in theCanadian Football League (CFL). He playedcollege football at theUniversity of Southwestern Louisiana
Verdin attendedSouth Terrebonne High School. He accepted a football scholarship from theUniversity of Southwestern Louisiana.
Verdin was selected by theHouston Gamblers in the 17th round (356th overall) of the1984 USFL Draft. He was also selected by theWashington Redskins in the third round (83rd overall) of the1984 NFL Supplemental Draft of USFL and CFL Players.[2]
In 1986, he signed with theWashington Redskins after the USFL folded. During his time with theIndianapolis Colts, he was famous for his end-zone celebration known as "The Verdance". He was selected for twoPro Bowls as apunt returner.
In 1996, he signed as afree agent with theBC Lions of theCanadian Football League, but was released after five games.
