Tavares made his professional debut withAves in a 2–1Primeira Liga loss toS.L. Benfica on 10 January 2020.[1]
Born in Portugal, Tavares is of Cape Verdean descent. He played for theCape Verde national team in a 1–12022 FIFA World Cup qualification tie withCentral African Republic on 1 September 2021.[2]
Tavares' brotherMiguel and Jair Tavares, and his cousinRenato Sanches are also professional footballers.[3]
