Civil Georgia (Georgian:სივილ ჯორჯია) is aTbilisi-based dailynews website run byGeorgianNGO UN Association of Georgia.

Creation and funding

Civil Georgia was founded in July 2001 and is trilingual in Georgian,English, andRussian.[1]

Civil Georgia is supported byUSAID,Friedrich Ebert Foundation andSwiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, the grants of which cover about 98% of the website's expenses.[2]

Activities and reach

As of January 2009, Civil Georgia claims to reach 10,000 daily visitors.[2]

As of 2024[update], Civil Georgia continued to publish Georgian political news and analysis.[1]

Cyberspace attack

[edit]

In August 2008, Civil.ge had down time during an attack byRussiancrackers early in theRusso-Georgian war.[3]
