
TheCivic Center is a mostly governmental district in downtownCleveland, Ohio, that is home to the 1916 erectedCleveland City Hall Building.[1] The 1925Cleveland Public Library main branch,[2] the 1976 massiveCuyahoga County Justice Center, the 419 footAnthony J. Celebrezze Federal Building (named after the 1953–1962 popular Cleveland Mayor),[3] theFederal Reserve Bank of Cleveland (one of only twelve in the US),[4] the historicCuyahoga County Courthouse, theCleveland Public Hall, theHoward M. Metzenbaum U.S. Courthouse which abutsPublic Square, and the city-owned greenspaceWillard Park which is home to theFree Stamp.
The district is also the site of the headquarters of theCleveland Division of Police, the historicStandard Building is located across St. Clair Avenue from the CPD HQ, the tallest hotel in the state of Ohio, the 374 footHilton Cleveland Downtown Hotel,[5] the new ClevelandGlobal Center for Health Innovation which is the home to the largestmedical mart in the country, theHuntington Convention Center of Cleveland, which is connected to the renovatedPublic Hall, and theCleveland Metropolitan School District old Board of Education Main Building all the area in common.

The Civic Center is bound to the east by theNine-Twelve District, to the north byNorth Coast Harbor, to the south byPublic Square, and to the west by theWarehouse District. Running through the center of the district is the Cleveland greenwayThe Mall. In this regard the district is pretty muchlandlocked. The mall also hosts theCleveland War Memorial.
