Cincloramphus is agenus of birds in the grassbirdfamilyLocustellidae.
The genusCincloramphus was introduced by the English ornithologist and bird artistJohn Gould in 1838 with thebrown songlark as thetype species.[2][3] The name combines theAncient Greekkinklos meaning "thrush" withrhamphos meaning "bill".[4]
A comprehensivemolecular phylogenetic study of the family Locustellidae published in 2018 found that many of the genera were non-monophyletic. In the resulting reorganization the generaMegalurulus andBuettikoferella becamejunior synonyms of the resurrected genusCincloramphus.[5][6]
The genus now contains 12 species:[6]
