Cielętniki[t͡ɕɛlɛntˈniki] is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Dąbrowa Zielona, withinCzęstochowa County,Silesian Voivodeship, in southern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 4 km (2 mi) north ofDąbrowa Zielona, 33 km (21 mi) east ofCzęstochowa, and 81 km (50 mi) north-east of the regional capitalKatowice.
In the Cielętniki grows the largest tree in Poland — it is monumentallime tree, known asLime in Cielętniki.
The Palace in the center of the village was built by theKurnatowski family, as was the church.
On 4 September 1939, during the Germaninvasion of Poland which startedWorld War II, German troops carried out a massacre ofPolish farmers and children in the village (seeNazi crimes against the Polish nation).[2]
