Ciarán Ahern (born September 1984) is an IrishLabour Party politician who has been aTeachta Dála (TD) for theDublin South-West constituency since the2024 general election.[2][3]

Ahern was a member ofSouth Dublin County Council from June to November 2024 for theRathfarnhamTempleogue area.[4][1] He has worked and lectured in law. He was an unsuccessful candidate at the2020 general election for Dublin South-West.

Early life and education

Ahern grew up inRathfarnham with his two brothers.[1] He attendedColáiste Éanna. He went on to graduate with a double Bachelor of Law and Business fromUniversity College Dublin in 2007 and aMaster of Science in Criminal Justice Policy, Human Rights, Criminology, and Corporate Crime from theLondon School of EconomicsLaw School in 2009.[5]

Personal life

Ahern married fellow lawyerMaeve O'Rourke in January 2020.[6][7] Ahern had to postpone theirhoneymoon in order to stand as a Labour candidate at the 2020 general election, which took place that February.[8] The couple have a son together.[1]
