Chuxiongosaurus (meaning "Chuxiong lizard") is agenus ofbasalsauropodomorphdinosaur which lived during theEarly Jurassic Period.Fossils of this genus have been found in theLower Lufeng Formation,Yunnan Province, southernChina. Identified from theholotype CMY LT9401 a nearly completeskull (including alower jaw) with some similarities toThecodontosaurus, it was described as the "first basal sauropod dinosaur from the Early Jurassic of China," more basal thanAnchisaurus. It was named byLü Junchang, Yoshitsugu Kobayashi, Li Tianguang and Zhong Shimin in2010, and thetype species isChuxiongosaurus lufengensis.[1] It is a possible junior synonym ofJingshanosaurus.[2]
