Chuukic (/ˈkɪk/), historically also rendered asTrukic[1][original research?] (/ˈtrkɪk/), is a subgroup of theChuukic–Pohnpeic family of theAustronesian language family.[2] The languages are primarily spoken inChuuk State andYap State of theFederated States of Micronesia, as well as in the outer islands ofPalau. The Carolinians of theCommonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands also speak their own language distinct from the historically nativeChamorro people.
