Chunga is one of two knowngenera of seriemas in the familyCariamidae. It is found inArgentina,Bolivia, andParaguay. It contains one livingspecies, theblack-legged seriema. A prehistoric species,Chunga incerta, has been described from theMiocene andPlioceneMonte Hermoso Formation of Argentina.[1]
