Chung Chung-hoon,ASC (born June 15, 1970) is a South Koreancinematographer and filmmaker, best known for his collaborations with directorPark Chan-wook.[2][3][4] He is also known for his other work in film and television, includingMe and Earl and the Dying Girl,It,Zombieland: Double Tap,Last Night in Soho,Uncharted,Obi-Wan Kenobi, andWonka.[5][6]

Early life

Chung was born inSeoul,South Korea. He attendedDongguk University in 1990, initially majoring in theater, and later switched his focus to cinematography. While attending Dongguk University, he directed three short films. During his senior year, he made his debut as cinematographer on a feature calledYuri.[7]

Chung debuted in the US as cinematographer in the filmStoker.[8]

In 2017, Chung was invited to join theAcademy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS).[9]

Chung was invited to join theAmerican Society of Cinematographers as a member in October 2023,[10] becoming the first and the only Korean cinematographer of the ASC.[11] Chung is currently under theUnited Talent Agency.[12]
