Chrysemys is a genus ofturtles in the familyEmydidae. They are found throughout most ofNorth America.[2]The species in the genus include thepainted and thesouthern paintedturtles.
Chrysemys have temperature dependent sex determination. During egg incubation, lower temperatures produce males while higher temperatures produce females.[3]
