Prof.Chrishantha Abeysena (Sinhala:ක්‍රිෂාන්ත අබේසේන;Tamil:கிரிஷாந்த அபேசேன) is a Sri Lankan politician who has served as theMinister of Science and Technology since November 2024.[1][2][3] He was elected to the Parliament fromGampaha Electoral District as a member of theNational People's Power in the2024 Sri Lankan parliamentary election.[4][5][6]

Education

Abeysena undertook medical studies at theUniversity of Colombo, where he obtained asMBBS.[7] He then obtained anMA in Buddhist Studies from the Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies[8] in 1994, anMSc in Community Medicine from the Institute of Medicine[9] in 1995, and anMA in International Relations from theUniversity of Colombo in 1998.
