Chlormadinone is aprogestin which was never marketed.[1][2] Anacylated derivative, chlormadinone acetate, is used clinically as apharmaceuticaldrug.[1][2]
It was patented in 1958 and approved for medical use in 1963.[3] Whilechlormadinone is sometimes used as a synonym forchlormadinone acetate, what is almost always being referred to is chlormadinone acetate and not chlormadinone.
