Chirkutt is a Bangladeshi rock band fromDhaka, formed in 2002 bySharmin Sultana Sumi.[1][2]
This band was formed in 2002 bySharmin Sultana Sumi.[3]Emon Chowdhury joined in 2005, Pavel Areen joined in 2008 andJahid Nirob joined in 2015.[3][4] Eight years after the band was formed they released their first albumChirkuttnama.[5]
Chirkutt's performed atSXSW-2016 inAustin, US[6] and South Asian Band Festival-Delhi, India, the President house concert in India-2014, India Music Week and the Jaffna Music Festival,Sri Lanka. They were also the winners of theRTV Best Band Award 2012.[2] Chirkutt band has also embarked for a tour in Norway with Norwegian rockersCasa Murilo in 2013.[7] They performed onAsian TV music show in September 2016.[8][9]

The band has also worked on several local film music director. They won the "SAARC" film festival award in 2016 for the best original score of the filmJalal's Story.[13] Chirkutt also have done the playback in the moviesTelevision,[14] andPiprabidya,[15] of directorMostofa Sarwar Farooki. They did the soundtrack ofAynabaji ofAmitabh Reza Chowdhury 2016 film,[16] Ice cream ofRedowan Rony. Chirkutt did the soundtrack of the movieTumi Je Amar byRTV.[17] They composed the soundtrack of the 2017 movieDoob – No bed of roses.
