Chicken Island is anisland located close to thesouth-western coast ofTasmania, Australia. The low, flat, 1.95-hectare (0.0075 sq mi) island is part of theMaatsuyker Islands Group, and comprises part of theSouthwest National Park and theTasmanian WildernessWorld Heritage Site.[1][2]
The vegetation is dominated bySarcocornia quinqueflora andSenecio pinnatifolius. Recorded breedingseabird andwader species are thelittle penguin,short-tailed shearwater,fairy prion,common diving-petrel,Pacific gull,silver gull,sooty oystercatcher andCaspian tern.[1][2]
