TheChhatrasal Stadium is asportsstadium inNorth Delhi. The stadium is famous for itswrestlers, such asYogeshwar Dutt,Ravi Kumar Dahiya, Sushil Kumar,Bajrang Punia,Amit Kumar Dahiya andAman Sehrawat who have wonmedals atOlympics,Commonwealth Games,Asian Games and numerousworld championships. The stadium also hostsathletics,basketball,archery,football andkabaddi matches.[1][2][3][4] The stadium is currently used mostly by theI-League 2 clubSudeva Delhi FC.[5][6]

History

The stadium is named after MaharajaChhatrasal whose figure is mounted withblack marble near the entry gate. The original stadium was built in early 1980. During the2010 Delhi Commonwealth Games it was renovated with a new and advanced track.[7] The stadium is directed byDronacharya awardee,Mahabali Satpal.

The stadium has an approximate capacity of 16,000.

Location

Chhatrasal Stadium is located within walking distance of Model Town Metro Station and Azad Pur Metro Station. There are 13 entry gates. The stadium is often closed on Sundays while training for various disciplines takes place in the morning and evening times.
