Chenopodium cycloides is a species of flowering plant in the familyAmaranthaceae known by the common namesandhill goosefoot. It is native to the south-central United States.[1]
This "somewhat unremarkable" species is an annual herb with branching green or blue-green, reddish-striped stem up to 80 centimeters tall.[2] The leaves are linear in shape and sometimes fleshy. The herbage may be mealy in texture. Theinflorescence is a spiraling cluster of greenish flowers. The fruit is anachene containing black seeds.[2]
This plant can be found in easternColorado, easternNew Mexico, southwesternKansas, southwesternNebraska, westernTexas, and possiblyOklahoma. It grows in sandy soils, often aroundblowouts. It grows in several assemblages of flora, often in places dominated byArtemisia filifolia, the sand sage. It may grow inshortgrass prairie.[2]
