Cheikh Larbi Tébessa Airport (Arabic:مطار الشيخ العربي التبسي) (IATA:TEE,ICAO:DABS) is a public airport located 1.35 nautical miles (2.5 km; 1.6 mi) north ofTébessa,[2] the capital of theTébessaprovince (wilaya) in Algeria.
During World War II, the facility was known asTebessa Airfield. It was aTwelfth Air Force base of operations during theNorth African Campaign against the GermanAfrika Korps. It was operationally used by the31st Fighter Group, which flewSupermarine Spitfires from the airfield between 17 and 21 February 1943. It was also the headquarters of theXII Fighter Command between December 1942 and 12 January 1943.[6][7]
The airport resides at an elevation of 811 metres (2,661 ft) abovemean sea level. It has twoasphalt pavedrunways: 11/29 measuring 3,000 by 45 metres (9,843 ft × 148 ft) and 12/30 which measures 2,400 by 30 metres (7,874 ft × 98 ft).[2]
