Indian women's rights activist and social worker
Charulata Mukherjee was an Indian women's rights activist and social worker fromCalcutta. She was associated withBrahmo Samaj andAll India Women's Conference.[1][2][3].
She was an active member of AIWC and worked with other contemporaries likeRajkumari Amrit Kaur, Rani Rajwade,Muthulakshmi Reddi,Hansa Mehta and others.[4][5] AtBengal front, she worked along her daughterRenuka Ray andRomola Sinha, who were noted for their fight for abolition ofDevdasi system, prostitution and rehabilitation of children of prostitutes.[6]
She was daughter ofDr P. K. Roy andSarala Roy. She was married toSatish Chandra Mukherjee.Air Marshal Subroto Mukerjee, Prosanto Mukherjee andRenuka Ray were her sons and daughter.[1]
