Chaudhary Chand Ram[1][2][3] (23 June 1923 – 15 June 2015) was an Indian politician and firstDeputy Chief Minister of Haryana.
He was member of the1st & 3rd Punjab Assembly and1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Haryana Assembly of India. He also served as the member of6th and9th Lok Sabha.[4][5][6]
Chaudhary Chand Ram[1][2][3] was born on 23 June 1923 inChamar family of Kharhar, Rohtak, Haryana, (then Punjab).[7] He did his graduation fromDAV College,Lahore and Postgraduate in Economics. His family was influenced fromArya Samaj movement.[6]
He was a champion of Dalit cause in Punjab and was a close associate ofB. R. Ambedkar.[8]
Chaudhary Chand Ram[1][2][3] played a significant part in struggle for a separateHaryana state from Punjab.
He led the greatBir Sunarwala Dalit Land Movement and granted land to Dalits in various parts of Haryana.[9]
