Chalavadi Narayanaswamy is an Indian politician from Karnataka. He is serving as the21st Leader of Opposition in the Karnataka Legislative Council since June 2024,[1][2] the upper house in the bicameralKarnataka Legislature.
Narayanaswamy is fromScheduled Caste community.[3] After about four decades with theIndian National Congress, he joined the BJP.[4] In 2022, he was elected to the Karnataka Legislative Council by an electoral college comprising members of theKarnataka Legislative Assembly. He was the president of the BJP's SC Morcha before he entered the council.[5]
On 22 July 2024, theBharatiya Janata Party nominated him as the leader of opposition as the post became vacant following the election ofKota Srinivas Poojary to the parliament from theUdupi Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency.
