Cephrenes trichopepla, theyellow palm dart, is abutterfly of the familyHesperiidae. It is found inAustralia (the south-eastern coast ofNew South Wales, the northern Gulf and northern coast of theNorthern Territory, the northern Gulf and northern coast ofQueensland and the northern coast ofWestern Australia),Papua andPapua New Guinea. It has recently been recorded fromSingapore andSri Lanka.
Thewingspan is about 40 mm.
The larvae feed on a wide range of palm species and it is considered a pest ofcoconut palm.[1]
Recorded food plants includeArchontophoenix alexandrae,Wodyetia bifurcata,Ptychosperma elegans,Archontophoenix cunninghamiana,Livistona australis,Livistona benthamii,Livistona nitida,Livistona muelleri,Livistona mariae,Livistona drudei andLivistona decipiens.
