Cephalocarpus is a genus offlowering plants belonging to the familyCyperaceae. It includes 20 species ofsedges native to tropical South America, ranging from Colombia and Peru to Venezuela, Guyana, Suriname, and northern Brazil.[1]
The former genusEverardia is now considered a synonym.[1] It was named in honour ofEverard im Thurn (1852–1932), author, explorer, botanist, photographer and British colonial administrator,[2]
20 species are accepted.[1]
