Centpropazine (CPZ,CTZ) is anexperimentalantidepressant which was under development for the treatmentmajor depressive disorder inIndia but was never marketed.[1][2][3] It is described as havingimipramine-like clinical effects, reversingreserpine-induced effects in animals, and potentiatingamphetamine-induced effects in animals.[3] Themechanism of action of centpropazine is unknown.[4] The drug reachedphase 3clinical trials prior to the discontinuation of its development.[1] It was first described in thescientific literature by 1980.[3][5]
