Cecilio Alfonso Waterman Ruiz (born 13 April 1991) is a Panamanian professionalfootballer who plays as astriker forChilean Primera División clubCoquimbo Unido, with whom he won the2025 Chilean top-flight title,[1] and thePanama national team.
Waterman made his professional debut withSporting San Miguelito on 26 September 2010 in a match againstAtlético Chiriquí in Panama.
In mid-2011, he was transferred to the Uruguayan clubCentro Atlético Fénix, where he scored his first goal in May 2012 against Racing.[2]
In 2022 and 2023, he played forChilean Primera División clubCobresal, finishing as runners-up in the 2023 season.[3]
One year later, he signed with Peruvian clubAlianza Lima to play in the2024 Liga 1 season.[4][5]
In 2025, Waterman returned to Chile to joinCoquimbo Unido,[6] contributing to the club's firstChilean top-flight title.[1]
Waterman was part of thePanama U-20 squad for the2011 CONCACAF U-20 Championship where he scored four goals helping his country qualify to theYouth World Cup in Colombia.[7]
He made his senior debut forPanama in a December 2010friendly match againstHonduras and has, as of 15 August 2015, earned a total of 7 caps, scoring no goals. In 2013, he was called up byJulio Dely Valdés to play the2013 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
On 20 March 2025 Waterman scored a late winning goal against theUnited States, taking Panama to the final of theCONCACAF Nations League for the first time in their history after losing two prior semi-finals.[8]
