Cathie Louise Adams (born January 8, 1950) is aTexas politician.[1] She served asparty chair of theRepublican Party of Texas from October 2009 to June 2010.[2]
In April 2016, Adams broke withPhyllis Schlafly over Schlafly's endorsement on March 11 ofDonald Trump for the2016 Republican presidentialnomination. Adams instead supported U.S. SenatorTed Cruz of Texas, Trump's principal challenger whom Adams considers a more conservative choice. Adams subsequently lost the race for vice-chairman in 2016 to Amy Clark ofFloresville, south of San Antonio. Incumbent chairmanTom Mechler ofAmarillo retained his post after opponentJared Woodfill of Houston withdrew before final balloting.[3]
