Castus was an enslavedGallic man[1][2][3] who, together with theThracianSpartacus, the fellow GaulCrixus, and CeltGannicus, alongsideOenomaus, was one of the leaders of rebellious slaves during theThird Servile War (73–71 BC). He was killed along with his co-commander Gannicus and their Gallic andGermanic followers by Roman forces underMarcus Licinius Crassus at theBattle of Cantenna inLucania in 71 BC.
