Castlevania is avideo game series created and published byKonami. The series debuted in Japan on September 26, 1986, withAkumajō Dracula (悪魔城ドラキュラ,Akumajō Dorakyura; lit. "Demon Castle Dracula"), which was later released asCastlevania in the United States (May 1, 1987) andPAL (December 19, 1988). Titles in the series have been released on numerousvideo game consoles,handheld game consoles, andpersonal computer platforms, and several have been re-released on multiple platforms and included as part of compilation packages.[1]

The series' characters have appeared in several other Konami games. There have been also numerous separately released music albums, initially byKing Records.
