Casper Stevenson (born 22 April 2003) is aBritish racing driver who is currently competing in theEuropean Le Mans Series and theGT World Challenge Europe this year.
During the 2024 season he raced in theFIA World Endurance Championship forD'station Racing. He finished 2nd in the8 Hours of Bahrain. As well as finishing on the podium in theSpa 24 Hours. Previously in his single seater career he becameEuroformula Open rookies champion in 2021 and was 3rd in theF4 British Championship in 2020.
Stevenson mainly developed his karting career in the United Kingdom, racing in the various classes of theSuper 1 National Kart Championships.[1]
Stevenson made his car racing debut in the winter series of theGinetta Junior Championship in November 2018, before a full-time entrythe following year with Richardson Racing.[2] He finished the season 6th overall with nine podiums, and 2nd in the rookie standings behindZak O'Sullivan.[3][4]
In November 2019, following an assessment day atSilverstone, Stevenson won the inauguralF4 British Championship scholarship prize.[5][6] He subsequently signed with new team Argenti Motorsport, which took over reigning championsDouble R Racing's cars, for2020.[7] He started the year off with consistent points finishes, before a run of nine consecutive podiums halfway through the season propelled him to 3rd in the standings.[8] He achieved his first two wins in cars at Silverstone andCroft in the process.[9][10]
Though initially planning to race in theFormula Regional European Championship forVan Amersfoort Racing in 2021,[11] for which he prepared during the winter inAsian F3,[12] Stevenson ended up joining the team in theEuroformula Open instead.[13] He took two wins throughout the season on his way to 6th in the standings, and was crowned rookies' champion.[14][15]
Stevenson competed in theGulf 12 Hours in January 2022, driving aMercedes-AMG GT3 Evo for 2 Seas Motorsport.[16] He finished fourth overall and third in his class, alongsidegentleman driversIan Loggie and Morgan Tillbrook.[17] Stevenson gained praise after a competitive stint that saw him close in onplatinum-rated factory driverBen Barnicoat, in what was his professional sportscar racing debut.[18]
He then contested theGT World Challenge Europe for the AKKodis ASP Team, partnering Tommaso Mosca andKonstantin Tereshchenko in theEndurance Cup and Thomas Drouet in theSprint Cup.[19][20] Having taken six podiums from his first seven races before racing at the historicSpa 24 Hours in late July, Stevenson finished runner-up in the Silver class of the Sprint Cup and ninth in the Endurance Cup.
In 2023, Stevenson moved toAston Martin Racing to make his debut in theFIA World Endurance Championship, driving for theTF Sport-operatedD'station Racing team in the GTE Am class alongside Satoshi Hoshino andTomonobu Fujii.[21][22] He finished 2nd in the last race of theFIA World Endurance Championship in the8 Hours of Bahrain. Stevenson was commended for his final stints which saw him close a thirty three second gap to the leader to just 1.6 seconds leading to a tight battle for victory in the closing laps.[23]
He also notably finished 3rd in theSpa 24 Hours in the Pro-Am class in early July.
For 2024, Stevenson stayed withAston Martin Racing to compete in theEuropean Le Mans Series with partner teamRacing Spirit of Léman.[24] He also entered theGT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup with the successful British teamBarwell Motorsport.
At the halfway point of theEuropean Le Mans Series Stevenson and his teammates Derek De Boer andValentin Hasse-Clot currently sit 2nd in the championship with two podiums so far in the opening three races.[25][26]
In theGT World Challenge Europe Endurance Cup campaign, Stevenson and his teammates finished on the podium in the historic centenary edition of theSpa 24 Hours in the competitive Bronze Cup category. Finishing 14th overall out of the 66 car grid.[27]
Stevenson has mildcerebral palsy.[28][29] This affected him in his single seater career, most notably facing mobility problems in theTatuus F3 T-318, which led to his switch from theFormula Regional European Championship toEuroformula in 2021.[11]
