Caspase 5 is anenzyme thatproteolytically cleaves other proteins at anaspartic acid residue, and belongs to a family ofcysteine proteases calledcaspases. It is an inflammatory caspase, along withcaspase 1,caspase 4 and themurine caspase 4homologcaspase 11, and has a role in theimmune system.[1]
