Casimir "Slug" Leo Witucki (May 26, 1928 – April 19, 2015) was anAmerican footballguard in theNational Football League (NFL) for theWashington Redskins. He playedcollege football atIndiana University and wasdrafted in the 21st round of the1950 NFL draft.
Witucki was born inSouth Bend, Indiana and attendedWashington High School. While there, he playedhigh school football as aguard on teams that went 14-1-4 in 1944 and 1945. He was awarded All-State honors and was chosen captain in 1945.[1]
Witucki attended and playedcollege football atIndiana University inBloomington. He was a four-yearletterman and graduated in 1950.[1]
Witucki wasdrafted in the 21st round (266th overall) of the1950 NFL draft by theWashington Redskins. He played for the Redskins in 1950 and 1951, and after military service, from 1953 to 1956.
Witucki missed the1952 NFL season because he was called to duty in theUnited States Air Force during theKorean War. He was awarded the rank ofsecond lieutenant and was stationed inJapan.[1] While he was stationed atAshiya Air Field, he played football for the Ashiya Mustangs.[2]
Witucki died April 19, 2015, at Charlotte Hall Veteran's Home, inCharlotte Hall, Maryland.[2]
