Carmylessus orKarmylessos (Ancient Greek:Καρμυλησσός) was a town ofancient Lycia, described byStrabo betweenTelmissus and the mouth of theXanthus.[1] After Telmissus, he says, thenAnticragus (Ancient Greek:Ἀντίκραγος), an abrupt mountain on which is the small place Carmylessus, lying in a ravine.
The editors of theBarrington Atlas of the Greek and Roman World identifyKaya, Fethiye as the location of the ancient city,[2] while theLund University Atlas of the Roman World tentatively place it atKayaköy.[3]
