Carlos Tufvesson is afashion designer inBrazil. He attendedDomus Academy, inMilan,Italy. In 2000, he opened a space inIpanema: One side hisatelier, the other a store front. In 2001, he released his firstprêt-à-porter collection during theSemana Barra Shopping, a precursor event toFashion Rio.[1] In 2004, Tufvesson introduced his work internationally at theSão Paulo Fashion Week.[2]
Tufvesson, who isopenlygay,[3] is well known for his activism inBrazil, especially for activities benefitingHIV/AIDS causes, but also forequal rights to accessmarriage, as it is administered and extended by thestate.Architect André Piva is his life-partner, and both are well-recognized personalities, both by theLGBT community as well as thecarioca society (i.e. theWho is who list in the city ofRio de Janeiro).
