Caleb Dean (born June 20, 2001) is an American track and field athlete who competes as a hurdler. In 2024, he won the 60-meter hurdles at theNCAA Division I Indoor Track and Field Championships and the 400-meter hurdles at theOutdoor Championships .[ 1]
Dean is fromHyattsville ,Maryland , where he attendedDeMatha Catholic High School .
Dean started his collegiate career at theUniversity of Maryland . He was a two-timeBig Ten Champion as well as a two-time Big Ten runner-up. After his junior year, he transferred toTexas Tech University . In his two years as a Red Raider, he accumulated fourBig 12 championships and three Big 12 runner-up finishes.[ 2] [ 3]
Dean won the 60 meter hurdles at theNCAA Indoor Championships in March 2024 inBoston, Massachusetts . Texas Tech won the team title that same year.[ 4]

Professional career [ edit ] In July 2024, Dean signed a professional contract withAdidas .[ 7]
In December 2024, he signed withGrand Slam Track to compete in all four slams of the inaugural season in 2025.[ 9] Kingston, Jamaica , he finished third over 400m hurdles, running 48.58 seconds in April 2025.[ 10] 2025 Grand Slam Track event inMiami , he finished fifth in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 49.90 seconds on 2 May 2025, and then third in the 400 meter flat race in 45.18 seconds.[ 11] [ 12]
He ran 48.45 seconds to finish as runner-up toRai Benjamin in the final of the 400 metres hurdles at the2025 USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Eugene.[ 13] 2025 World Athletics Championships inTokyo , Japan, in September 2025, he was a finalist in themen's 400 metres hurdles , placing seventh overall.[ 14]
